‘A naked body jumping into the water creates a space around itself, a waterhole. At the very same moment the water becomes the body’s jacket, colouring it blue.’
Waterhole is my self-defined metaphor, a recurrent theme in my work, which during the working process is translated into jewellery.
The working process starts with my curiosity and fascination for the movement of a body, which create ‘waterholes’. While observing the changing shapes I divide the process into fragments, registering the various sequences in drawings. Selected drawings are directly transposed on to flexible materials, making a cutting pattern which is then moulded into simple organic, three dimensional forms. The emerging forms are the result of this specific way of working; jumping between the flat surface of a drawing and the three dimensional form.
